Pupil Leadership
Encouraging Confident Voices for the Future
Our School Council is a vibrant part of our school community, representing students from across all year groups. They meet regularly to plan initiatives that enhance our school and community, such as making fruit kebabs to fundraise for new playtime equipment, organising a litter pick at Horsforth Park, and selling cakes for the Macmillan Coffee Morning.
In Years 5 and 6, our Mini Vinnies work together to turn concern into action by creating Christmas cards and decorations for residents at a local care home, organising food collections for local food banks, gathering items for the Woolly Hat campaign for sailors, and collecting toys for refugee children.
Our Year 6 pupils can also take on leadership roles as head boy, head girl, deputy head boy, and deputy head girl, forming a pupil leadership group that meets with the assistant headteacher to suggest improvements for our school. Additionally, house captains represent each house with pride and dedication.
Our Little Liturgies group, made up of Year 1 and Year 2 pupils, brings the word of God to life by acting out gospel readings, creating drawings, and learning songs.
In Years 5 and 6, children can apply to be Sports Leaders, where they work alongside our professional PE coaches, learning games and teaching them to Key Stage 1 children each playtime.
"The school council and ‘Mini-Vinnies’, who lead on charitable activities, take their responsibilities seriously. These roles are highly prized by pupils. They do their very best to help others to be well-rounded, responsible citizens. This prepares pupils well for life beyond school." Ofsted April 2024.
